"The difference between style and fashion is quality"

The Met Gala soirée has always been an affair to remember; there are the looks that could generously be described as messy, baffling and downright boring and then there are the looks that un-doubtfully make the night a glamorous sensation. Here are some of my favorites…and whats a party without an after party ; ) "next post"

Breaking news people.....Kim Kardashian (no introduction required!) just tweeted she's coming to Dubai some time after this summer :)
She says “OMG I’m soooo excited I just booked a trip to Dubai! I’ve never been before! This is going to be such an experience!”
No word yet on why she plans to come to the emirate or if she’s bringing her man along but I’ll tell you what though....we here in Dubai can’t wait to see you Kim!!!

The girls and I had a fantastic time @ Bambah's Denim on Denim event last nite...
I'll leave you with the pictures :)

My Mother would tell you the 80’s were the best! I on the other hand would disagree, at least until recently, as I seem to have found this new un-understandable attraction to all things 80’s! Im not sure if it’s the vintage feel or simply the fact that this era reminds me of my mom.
See, throughout my childhood years my mother was my ultimate fashion icon. I thought everything she wore from pants to feminine silk blouses to her chunky vintage clip on earrings and even her perfume (Cartier) was fashion on its best day, if my mother were a brand, she’d be Ralph Lauren!
So seeing as today is Mother’s Day, I figured why not use this little means of expression I have, to share with all of you where my style icons’ passion for fashion comes from and give my mother an early Mother’s Day gift while I'm at it.
Fashion in the 1980’s:
This was the decade when women wanted it all; the husband, the children, the career, not to mention time for self expression. Unlike other decades, it would be hard to understand the women of the 80’s by attempting to translate their fashion.
The female silhouette in the 80’s was known as the European “V”, this was seen through the dramatic use of shoulder pads in order to increase the size of the shoulders and tight skits and stretch pants that trimmed the waist and hips.
During this time women continued to participate in the work force, and in order to be taken more seriously they felt their office attire should represent a more masculine image which is when the “Power Suit” was designed.
The suit comprised of a broad-shouldered collar jacket usually paired with a soft blouse and a skirt; pants were seen as too casual. The “Power” colors of these suits were mostly navy, black, and gray but not brown. The shoes of choice were medium height pumps, which were appropriate I guess but not completely flattering.
